Thanks to a generous grant from the Verizon Foundation, the Buffalo Free-Net conducted a series of FREE workshops to assist non-profit organizations affiliated with the Buffalo Free-Net to acquire the skills to create and maintain a presence on the World Wide Web.  Each series consisted of four classes, and was run three times during the Fall of 2000 and Winter of 2001. 

Web hosting is available to non-profit organizations in Western New York for free on the Buffalo Free-Net.

Session One
OBJECTIVES:

• Participants will be able to plan and map out their web site.
• Participants will understand good web design principles.
• Participants will understand basic web and HTML principles.

Session Two
OBJECTIVES:

• Participants will become proficient in creating web pages using Notepad.
• Participants will learn the fundamentals of building a web site using HTML coding, web techniques, and special effects.

Session Three
OBJECTIVES:

• Participants will be able to view and evaluate a variety of HTML editors and graphic programs.

Session Four
OBJECTIVES:

• Participants will be able to transfer web pages up to their web host.
• Participants will understand how to effectively manage, maintain, and promote their web site.
